My name is Karin and I believe, that in an age where technology is at the forefront of everyone’s life, it is crucial people find time to connect with nature and experience the benefits of exploring the adventures the natural world has to offer.
How my Journey to Eco-Therapy began
Growing up on a farm; my love for nature began as a small child. I studied biology and worked as project manager in environmental affairs before becoming a science teacher. Due to the workload in these demanding jobs, I lost more and more my connection with the natural world and – even worse – to myself.
After a breakdown and deep depression, I moved from Germany to Bournemouth in the South of England. Living close to the sea and the New Forest reconnected me with the natural world and changed my mental wellbeing in a very positive way.
In summer 2019 I walked the 630 miles of the South West Coast Path on my own, carrying everything in needed in my rucksack (KarinSWCP on Facebook). Being outdoors 24/7 and mostly wild camping had a deep impact on me. This experience transformed me in a way that I had never expected. When I am outdoors, I feel a deep calming peace and being in my element. I decided to do a training in Eco-Psychology & Nature-Based Practices (Level 4) at the Natural Academy (https://www.naturalacademy.org) to support people to deeply connect with the natural world and to experience the benefit especially on mental health.
I am passionate about helping people to remember how it is to have a healthy relationship with themselves, family, friends, our community and especially our Mother Earth.
